| Savannah McBride, often known as Savvy or Vannah to friends and family, is the youngest child of James and Leighanne McBride, named after the city in Georgia where she was born, and her older siblings - fraternal twins Mason and Dixie - were named after the Mason-Dixon line. She grew up helping her parents out at The Peach Tree, the bed and breakfast they run in Savannah, and James and Leighanne instilled in all three of their children the value of hard work, good manners, and Southern hospitality. Close to her family, she calls and e-mails regularly and visits home as often as she can, but not as often as she used to. A model student, Savannah went to NYU on a scholarship and graduated with a degree in hospitality and management. Her ambition is to one day open her own restaurant and bar when she finally rounds up enough money to start it up. In the meantime, she tends bar at The Gin Mill on the Upper West Side in Manhattan. She's grown to love New York (her fresh start) though she still thinks of Georgia as home - even if she can't live there because of the memories it holds. Savannah spends a lot of time alone by choice, mostly because her friends (also her fellow co-workers) tend to smother her and push too hard for her to get back to being the person she was when they first met her, but she does love meeting new people, too. She tries to have fun and not to take anything too seriously, and she can be direct and blunt with her opinions at times. She also has a good dose of Irish temper, so if you get her riled up, look out. She enjoys good drinks, good food, and good company, and loves to entertain friends, and likes experimenting with new drink combinations behind the bar. She isn't one to back down from a challenge, especially if she thinks she can win, or if she thinks she'll lose too much face by backing down. |
